How to create tags and apply them to applications.

Create Tags

1. To access the Tags page, expand the Application menu on the Navigation sidebar, then expand the Customize sub-menu and select the Tags page.
   
   

2. To create a custom application-level tag in ThreadFix, click the Create Tag button at the top of the page.

3. This displays a modal dialog. Enter the name of the new tag, and choose from the drop-down menu the type of tag to create: from APPLICATION, VULNERABILITY, or COMMENT. In this example, a tag is being created for an application, with a tag name of "SSO developers."
   
   

    

4. Click Create Tag. This closes the dialog, displays a success message and adds the new tag to the list of tags available.

Risk Weights- Optional Tag Status - Beta

When creating an Application Tag, users can also select a desired Risk Weight per tag. To do so, users must enable Risk Rating. From the Create New Tag modal, users can enter a name for the tag and select a risk level from the drop down list.

Once the tag has been created, it and the risk weight will be added to the list of tags.

If Risk Ratings have been enabled, the Portfolio page will contain an added drop-down view for Relative Risks.

Applications will be sorted according to their overall risk level.

Add Tags to Application

Tags can be added to an application from its Application Details page. To add already created tags to an application:

1. From the desired application, click on the Action drop-down menu button and select Edit/Delete.
   
   

    

2. Within the Edit Application modal scroll down to the tags drop-down button, select a tag displayed on the list or begin entering a tag’s name if it is not immediately visible. When the desired tags have been added, click the Save Changes button.
   
   

    

   The added tag will now display on the application.
   
   

Batch Tagging

Now that a new tag has been created, it needs to be attached to an application. ThreadFix has the capability to apply multiple tags to multiple applications at once, through Batch Tagging. 

1. From the Tags page, select the new tag, using the checkbox to the right and click the Batch Tagging button*.

   *This redirects to the Batch Tagging page.
   
   

2. The new tag is displayed under selected tags. If more than one tag was chosen, all would be displayed here. Begin typing the name of the application or team in the Application text field. A drop-down appears listing options.
   
   

    

3. Select the application to apply the tag to and click the Submit button. A success message that the batch tagging succeeded will display.
   
   

4. Now when clicking on the new tag the details page for that tag display. This page lists the number and names of applications with this tag and also lists the team associated with the application.

    

5. Click on the application name to be taken to the Application Details page where the tag is now displayed beneath the application name.
