How to setup and run WebInspect Scan Agent.

Prerequisites

Audience: IT Professional
Difficulty: Intermediate
Time needed: Approximately 10 minutes
Tools required: N/A

1. Scanners must always be configured first as detailed in the Scanner Configuration guide.
   
   

2. After running "java -jar scanagent.jar -cs webinspect" to start the scan agent set up a scan agent task in ThreadFix. After starting the scan agent start a task in ThreadFix.

3. WebInspect can be run with or without a config file. To attain the config file, start and stop a scan in WebInspect, then from the Edit menu select Current Scan Settings and “Save settings as…” as shown below.
   
   

    

4. Select any desired options in the modal and when complete, click on “Save settings as…”, highlighted below:
   
   

    

   Note if a config file is used then the URL provided on the task modal will be ignored and the URL from the config file will be used instead.
