ThreadFix Windows to Linux Migration

You will learn

How to perform a ThreadFix migration to a Linux environment.

Prerequisites

Audience: IT Professional
Difficulty: Intermediate
Time needed: Approximately 45 minutes
Tools required: latest version of Tomcat 8.5, ThreadFix License, existing ThreadFix deployment

  1. Perform a database backup before performing any of the steps below.

  2. Select the Linux distribution from the ThreadFix New Deployments page (select Ubuntu or CentOS/RHEL) and follow those instructions for a new install. Tomcat can be run before continuing in order to ensure Tomcat is configured properly (after stopping the current Tomcat service). Note: ThreadFix only supports latest version of Tomcat 8.5.

  3. Follow the ThreadFix Installation instructions with the following change: Instead of moving a new ThreadFix directory into Tomcat, move the current <Tomcat-Deploy>/webapps/threadfix directory from the Windows deployment into the new Linux machine.

Please review all the steps listed in the guides proved above to ensure the configurations are appropriate for the new Linux deployment (including changing work/temp directories to fit Linux, updating file permissions, etc.).

  4. Restart the Tomcat service and test the connection to the current database. If planning to change the current database deployment as well, contact ThreadFix support for assistance.

  5. Prior to completion, import certificates for integrations which are already imported into the current Windows deployment.

  6. Log in to ThreadFix to validate a proper install and re-connection to the database.
