How to create versioning for Applications.

You can configure ThreadFix to keep track of which version of your application you are currently testing. As you release new versions of your application, you will have eliminated many vulnerabilities, but possibly introduced new ones. Application Versioning can help you keep track of changes in your application as they relate to the application's version.

Adding Versioning to your Application

1. To record the version number of your application at a certain date, go to your application's details page. Click the upper Action button, and select Manage Versions.

2. ThreadFix will display a modal dialog. You have not created any versions for this application, so the list is empty.
   
   

    

3. Click the Create Version button. ThreadFix creates another modal dialog, with fields for Name and Date. Give this version a name, and then click in the Date field. This displays a date chooser.
   
   

    

   Note: Introduced in 2.8.3, when creating versioning for an application, a time zone drop down will allow users to set a desired time zone region, as seen below. When viewing a scan result, the time zone on the display will be based on the user’s browser’s local time.
   
   

    

4. Select the date (and time zone if applicable) for the version, and click the Submit Version button to close the dialog. ThreadFix displays a success message and displays the name and date of your application version. Click the Close button, or click the Create Version button to repeat this process.
   
   

    

5. Now the Vulnerability Trending report on your application details page displays a bar with the date of your version. Mouse over the bar, and ThreadFix displays your version information.
   
   

    

6. From the same Versions menu the application version can be edited or deleted by clicking the Edit/Delete button to display the Edit Version pop-up. To delete the application version, click the Delete button from within the Edit Version pop-up.
